Javea, Spain

Yoga, relaxing and the good life!

Javea, Spain

Javea is in northern Costa Blanca, situated an equal distance between the cities and airports of Alicante and Valencia. With the majestic Montgo Mountains as a backdrop, Javea is a one of the most beautiful towns in the area and can easily be divided into 3 areas comprising the Arenal beach, the port and the charming old town.

Javea is a small city filled with an enormous amount of history, void of tall buildings and has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The Mediterranean offers several beautiful beaches, some that are large sandy beaches and others that are like little gems hidden away behind the cliffs.

The town has a lot to offer tourists, but the authorities were wise when doing the city planning and made sure that the old city charm was kept in order to remember the early days of Javea as a fishing village, while the more modern facilities were built beside it. Markets in the centre offer buyers fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish, and there are plenty of handicraft shops to keep explore.

With an average yearly temperature of 20c, Javea has been awarded the best place on earth for its climate. With over 320 days of sunshine per year, it is easy to understand why it received this award!

It takes approximately 1,5 hours to reach the most northerly point of Costa Blanca where Javea lies.

You will be very comfortable in the fantastic house that is situated on top of the cliffs overlooking the beautiful sea. With five double rooms all with ensuite bathrooms, a large pool in the yard, a full sized kitchen to make your own food or to enjoy a chef prepare them for you, and excellent outdoor space that work perfect for yoga, this house is an ideal location for a yoga or cycling retreat where the whole family, or a group of friends can be together.

The beach, city centre and plenty of other site seeing locations are all within a 10 minute car ride from the villa.

The Arenal beach has a bustling promenade filled with fantastic bars and restaurants. This is the most popular and touristy area.

The port is more laid back and is where you will find the harbor and “Nuestra Señora del Loreto” or fisherman’s church as it is also known as thanks to its boat shaped appearance. The port is host to many of the town’s lively festivals including the spectacular Moors and Christians every summer.

The charming old town with cobbled streets and a fascinating history date back hundreds of years. This is the place to visit for the best tapas in the area and to experience a little more authentic Spain. The Gothic fortified church of San Bartolome dominates the centre of town, dating back to the 15th century. At the side of the church is a beautiful building which houses the indoor market where you can buy local fresh produce daily, as well as the weekly outdoor market on Thursdays.

Javea is privileged to have one of the best microclimates in the world, making it one of the healthiest places to live. This is due to the proximity of Montgo to the sea. Javea receives around 320 days of sunshine a year and very mild winters.

There are a wealth of things to do in the area, with a series of ‘Miradors’ – viewpoints located along the length of Javeas 25km of coastline and a number of hidden beaches including Granadella, which has been regularly voted the best beach in Spain!

For the active visitor a range of water sports are on offer including paddle boarding and scuba diving, cycling is very popular along the windy roads, and there are many walks to enjoy amongst the vineyards and orange groves.
